GMS ASSIGNMENT 2 BOARD GAME
Board Design
FIRST BOARD
Simple
We started off with using just an A3 size print of nothing but hexagons because we only decided to use hexagons for the board. We did not want to limit our play-testers with a small board because we wanted to encourage them to expand and build on these hexagons as much as possible.
SECOND BOARD
Changed to balance
We added a circle of 7 hexagons because we realised that starting with just 1 hexagon in the center allowed the players to deny the other players instantly, leading to an instant loss. This is added to make sure that the users reach late game and not lose immediately because they could not start first.
THIRD BOARD
Limited Board
This time, this board is made to limit the users from expanding too much. Previously, we wanted the players to expand outwards and cover as much grounds as possible, in order to fight with one another for spaces. However, we realised that because they have too much space, they expand outwards in order to maximise their score rather than to fight and deny other players of their points. Hence, we limited this board and hope that they would challenge one another instead.
FOURTH BOARD
Improving Quality of Life
We added the areas that are used into the game board, thus making everything more organised and clearer for the players to use.
FIFTH BOARD
Finalised
We added the designs to bring out the feel and theme of our game to appeal to our players. These designs are made to immerse the players into the game, to make them feel like they are playing within a dream.
GMS ASSIGNMENT 2 BOARD GAME
Box Layout Designing
FIRST LAYOUT
Tried making it unique
In this layout design, we tried making it randomised and unique in order to make it stand out, so that the players will have a unique first experience.
FINAL LAYOUT
Neat and Tidy

In the end, we considered that since our target audience is children, we would want the box to be easily classifiable and allow them to easily find what they want easily, hence we went with this design.
CARD DESIGNS
Simple, Cute and Attractive
Our card designs are designed to attract children with their cute and simple designs. It is made to fit the theme of the entire board game and yet have strategically placed icons to make things as clear as possible.
POSTER CONCEPTS AND FINAL
FIRST CONCEPT
We firstly decided to take a picture of the complete product and then draw then edit effects in Photoshop to bring life to the real board game instead.
FINAL
This is a twist on the first concept, where they still show how the board is like, but illustrated instead. This illustration is the imagination of building the tiles on top of the hexagons, the imagination of how it is 'working'.

BROCHURE DESIGN
FIRST CONCEPT
This is the layout of the brochure when the children first pick them up. However, while keeping in mind that our target audiences are children, we realised that this layout has too much works, too little pictures. Children may not have the skill or patience to read all the words, hence it may not attract them right away.
FINAL FRONT SIDE
This is the front side after reviewing the first concept. It has minimal words, just the center part with big words allowing them to pick up the main idea. It shows clearly the 4 sides that you can play as within the game.
